2012 Scorecard

Home  »  2012 Scorecard

In an attempt to keep our party’s legislature in line with the party, GAPolitico will be conducting a scorecard on issues that violate the Democratic Party of Georgia Platform or run against Democratic Ideals. We will keep the list below and reference what parts of the Platform are relativist to the bill. You may find the platform here.

HB 668 and SB 292 – A bill that would require drug-testing for TANF. We believe this violates “Equal Justice” since it does only targets low-income programs rather than anyone who gets government assistance. We believe it is a violation of “Personal Privacy and Freedom” and is an “government intrusion,” which our platform calls to be “limited” in scope.

SB 294 -A bill that will require the unemployed to do 24 hours of free, forced labor in order to receive unemployment. It violates many of the same DPG Platform planks as HB 668 and SB 292. In addition, it goes against the policy of the DPG to end poverty and support a living wage.
